Myofu-An

Connecticut Dojo

The Myofu-An Dojo of Connecticut is teaching authentic Japanese Bujutsu since 2013. It’s comprised of classical jujutsu, kenjutsu, ninjutsu, etc. We are actively seeking those interested in pursing an authentic martial art tradition.

The training is currently done in a private/semi-private format and the minimum age requirement for lessons is 16 years old (need parent/guardian consent for minors). We provides rigorous training in a positive and relaxed atmosphere. We welcome all with a sincere desire to learn. Please contact us for more information.

The Instructor

Matt Hurlburt began his martial arts training at the age of 9, studying Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Bujutsu. In 2004, he moved to Japan to train with Muramatsu Sensei as a closed door disciple. After starting a family in Japan, he returned to the United States in 2007, making bi-yearly trips back to Japan to keep up with his own training. He opened the Myofu-An Connecticut branch in 2013 with the blessing of Muramatsu Sensei, and has been teaching ever since.

He works as a professional tattoo artist in Connecticut. In his spare time, he enjoys blacksmithing shuriken, drawing and painting, and spending time with his family in both Connecticut and Tokyo.
