The origin of Myofu-An

The Kobujutsu Kenkyukai Myofu-An dojo is an association founded by Shihan Muramatsu Koryu. There are schools in Japan, USA, Canada and Greece.

In the words for Muramatsu shihan :

“The name, “Myofu-An”, translates to, “a small hermitage where the mysterious winds blow”. In the context of martial arts, techniques are like the enigmatic winds, both profound and skillful. At times, they can be as fierce as a storm or as gentle as a breeze, flowing like the air itself. The pursuit of adaptation and refinement of technique is akin to seeking the essence of these winds.

Similarly, the heart, like an inhabitant of a small hermitage, seeks enlightenment. It remains calm, delving deep into self-awareness to gain an understanding of the world that surrounds it. The ideals of the martial arts practiced in Myofu-An align deeply with this path of self-discovery.

Through diligent study of these martial arts, practitioners ultimately embody a noble spirit-one that loves humanity, upholds justice, and perseveres with unwavering determination. Myofu-An serves as a sanctuary for those seeking such ideals.”
